Being so busy with the holiday season I never put up this post! Between work and school and getting sick all before flying home to see my family gave me zero time to work on blogging. But now I am back at it and couldn’t be happier. With the new year I plan to start being more regular with my blogging even if its freezing in New York and hard to shoot! I am going to get it done. I am in the midst of finally getting my apartment ready for a blog post as well (yes I moved five months ago I know) but with all my money always disappearing and being replaced with new clothes ( New York sales are hard to say no to) I had to put my home decor on pause. Anyways I can’t wait to share my home with you as soon as possible! I hope everyone had an amazing holiday season and New Year!

XOXO. Lish

NYFW From a Newbie

nyfw1nyfw9 nyfw11It’s finally here, the week I’ve dreamed of from a far for years now. But this year I’m living in the city where it’s all happening and I’m attending the events and a show. I’ve had my outfit bought and picked out before I was even given an invite. My first fashion week show was Mara Hoffman Spring/Summer 2016. I have always loved Mara’s designs so I knew with her whimsical style it was going to be a very creative display. I arrive early to the Skylight at Clarkson Square where I am greeted by about a dozen photographers. Suddenly they all start snapping pictures so naturally I look behind me for what celeb must be walking down the street just to realize they are taking my picture of what I’m wearing. I’m sure my confused face will be great for the street style section! I stand waiting with other ladies who also are wearing heels that are killing their feet as we all try and get out of the wind that is blowing our perfectly piled hair a little too much for comfort. Finally after what seemed like hours (It probably was) they start admitting us. We enter into a lobby where there is a little bar serving tea, coffee, or water. There is also a wall filled with fashion publications of all sorts all dedicated to NYFW. I walk into the room where the show will take place, there are white benches staggered throughout the room for seating and a backdrop on the runway that pictures blue skies and wheat fields.Processed with VSCOcam with j1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a7 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a7 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a8 presetThe show starts forty minutes late but that I’ve found is normal in the fashion industry. Beautiful models start walking out all sporting a fabric bandana which matches each unusable with two of the longest braids I’ve ever seen falling on each side of their faces. The collection was a twist on the classic Mara Hoffman style. The collection included stars, stripes, pastels, cowboy hats, and blue skies. Instead of patterns that were full of bright colors and things you’d only see in your imagination, these shapes and patterns were familiar and all american. Each look was accompanied by Willie Nelson songs on repeat. Don’t worry, if you didn’t get your dose of overalls they are set to return next season but this time in a pastel pink with thin stripes. Plunging necklines and flowy maxi dresses with low backs will also be making their return. All in all the collection was so beautiful and I am obsessed with the all american theme with a hint of 70’s shapes. Though a change for Mara’s known esthetic, the bohemian look was seen throughout keeping to her style. As amazing as the week has been with all the fashion week events, I can’t wait to catch up on some Z’s!

Have a great week my loves! XO, Lish

4th Favorites

IMG_0980 IMG_0978-2Happy 4th of July! I am seriously so excited to celebrate this year. I usually don’t ever have big plans for the day but this year I was invited to go yachting and then watch the fireworks from there. I literally plan outfits for any event in my life (currently planning my moving outfit) so of course this will be no exception. I will definitely be in some variation of red, white, and blue. Doing this color combo can be tricky because you don’t want to look over done and tacky, you want it to be subtle and cute. A good way to do this is by choosing two of the colors for your outfit and then using the other to accessorize with. I have picked out a few of my favorite items for the 4th that will be below. Also make sure to check out my new Ash sandals I just got. I’ve been wanting the Valentino ones and then found these. They are a fraction of the price of the Valentino’s and look so similar. Have a fun 4th!IMG_1005 IMG_0981IMG_1007 IMG_0979IMG_1006IMG_3759

Bucket Bags and Bralettes

IMG_0807 IMG_0821Hey guys! I am so excited about this outfit! I have been obsessed with bralettes lately and skirts so this is definitely my favorite combo. I have been trying to decide on what to wear to their airport so I still look presentable but am also comfortable for the flight so I came up with this. I am not a flats person if you couldn’t tell;) so I wasn’t sure how comfortable I would be wearing these Chanel espadrilles but it turns out I’m in love. They are super cute, comfortable, and go with almost anything. I decided to do a complete black and white outfit which makes it look a little more put together to me. I am literally going to live in this outfit!!IMG_0813IMG_0820Anyway I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it but I fly to New York tomorrow morning to look for an apartment. It has definitely been a stressful process but I know it will be worth it in the end. I will make sure to keep you updated on the apartment I choose and what I wear in New York. I am going to try and do some shoots there for the blog so we will see if I get the chance! I hope everyone has a fun weekend.

Palm Tree Prints

IMG_0002 IMG_0046I recently got a skirt by L’Agence from a local store Beanie&Cecil, that on the hanger I never thought I’d like. It was high waisted with a slit in the front and pockets you would think would be on the back were on the front. Completely weirded me out. I ended up trying it on and I am so glad I did. Seriously. It’s probably my new favorite skirt. I’ve been in this long pencil skirt phase lately, I’ve purchased three in the last two weeks. I am totally obsessed. I feel like they look so work appropriate but with the fun patterns and fabrics they are definitely a wild card piece which I love.

tori-carIMG_0052 IMG_9979 IMG_9944 IMG_0091I wore this one with my leopard print Valentino’s and a navy tee by Rag&Bone. The shirt does have a matching top but they were sold out of my size): I am all about mixing patterns so the palm print with the leopard is my newest love. When mixing patterns I always follow these guidelines: mix a small print with a large print, or mix prints with the same color scheme, or pick two basic patterns, and if mixing the same type pattern like stripes just invert the colors. But honestly just have fun with it, you’ll be able to tell if it looks like too much pattern or if it works! I hope everyone has a great weekend, thanks for stopping by make sure to shop my look below!

J.Crew Summer Sale

jcrew5jcrew6It has been such a beautiful week here, all sunshine and no rain! I have been living in shorts and rompers lately, they are so easy and you still look put together. I recently got these linen shorts from J.Crew which I am obsessed with. They come in this white and gold combo and a navy and silver. Deciding on which pair to get was the hardest decision of the day (not complaining about that (; ) I might end up going back and getting the other pair because they are so flattering and comfortable! I always have had a problem with shorts looking weird on me like I mentioned in my one teaspoon shorts post but I now have another pair that work on me! These come up a little longer then my others but the way they are cut they are completely flattering. They make me feel like I should be in Greece (next trip?) I lucked out and got them on sale for 30% off, the biggest sale they have on newer items! The sale continues until TOMORROW night so make sure you don’t miss out! Just use the code: SALENEWS. I got these new favorites for just $38. I matched them with a gold thread tank also from J.Crew. The shorts run a little big so I am wearing an XXS. I hope everyone has a great weekend!jcrew5 jcrew4 Jcrew3 JCREW

Talking Yoga and Style with Torri Winstead Part I

IMG_72702015-05-06 14.21.43What is it like to have a gorgeous home overlooking the ocean, two of the cutest dogs, a career in Yoga, and a closet every girl dreams about? Look no further than the fashionista/ yoga goddess, Torri Winstead. I recently interviewed her to get a glimpse into her lifestyle and I can tell you it really is as good as it sounds! Wondering why you might recognize that pretty face? Torri owned a luxury clothing boutique Torri/Bell for many years before starting her newest business venture, Wilmington Yoga. (more…)

Talking Yoga and Style with Torri Winstead Part II

TORRI2IMG_6934Q: What are some essentials in your closet you believe every girl should have?

A: Boyfriend Jeans – I can’t live without my Rag and Bone “The Dre”  boyfriends.  They are the definition of effortlessly sexy (and my hubbys favorite item in my closet).  Throw them on with your favorite tee and sandals or dress them up with heels and a slinky tank and you are sure to turn heads!

Gladiator sandals – my fave pair are the Sparta by Stuart Weitzman because they are comfy and super stylish.  I have tiny calves and these sandals are lace up so they are adjustable and fit my chicken legs perfectly:)  Gladiator sandals add the perfect dose of edge to any outfit…. Boho Chic coming right up! (more…)

The Bralette

IMG_8419 IMG_8417It’s finally beach weather and I couldn’t be happier. To start the season off I spent the morning walking on the beach with my best friend. Since it was right after the tropical storm there were tons of amazing shells and starfish! I have always wanted to find a starfish and I found two yesterday. The water was so calm and blue it was seriously like something out of a picture. I’ve always lived by the beach and taken it for granted but yesterday really made me realize how beautiful it is here.
